They REALLY do!!
And this applies to your workouts too!
We shared our “PLANKENSTEIN” workout with you, which is 5 minutes of super intense planking. But it is natural to think… does a 5 minute workout really count?
Well, according to a paper published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, the answer is a resounding YES!!!!!!!!!!
That’s GREAT news, especially during the Holiday Season!
In a nutshell, the American Heart Association conducted a rigorous study, and published their results in March 2018. The AHA’s Journal paper states that their research determined that even as little as 5 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, or “MVPA”, is sufficient to give you a health boost.
So what does MVPA mean for YOU?
It means that ANY time you take the stairs, walk a little bit more, do 5 minutes of SOMETHING, that you are making a difference. And that is pretty cool. Who can't take the stairs? Who can't find an opportunity to walk more?
On the flip side, for those of us who like to say, “I just don’t have time to workout”, the American Heart Association debunks this immediately. (And just so you know, in addition to our 5 minute “PLANKENSTEIN” workout, we have an “I Don’t Have Time to Workout Work Out” Workout that is only 9 minutes!!)
But in all seriousness, the moral of this post is DO SOMETHING!! You’ll feel better! To be honest, sometimes the ONLY thing that gets my sister and I to work out is knowing that we will feel better afterwards! And we really do!
In the next few weeks, we will post a couple of workout calendars full of workouts that are 20 minutes or less, some samples below:
Lean in 13: Abs & Back
Lean in 13: Helium Bum
Burn that Muffin Top or Lose that Spare Tire
