Performing this exercise on the Bosu adds instability, which forces the deep stabilizers of the spine the core muscles to contract. Because the exercise begins in slight lumbar (lower back) flexion, Superman on the Bosu focuses on the extensors of the thoracic spine (upper back) and should not create tension in the lower back.
