
With a name like Pilates on Fifth, you can probably guess that we teach a wealth of Pilates mat and Pilates equipment classes and privates. While our schedule is certainly filled with lots of great Mat Pilates Plus classes as well as our incredible Pilates privates, duets, and trios, we also offer so much more than just Pilates. Every week we offer a number of CARDIOLATES®, advanced CARDIOLATES®, and GYROTONIC® classes.
What is GYROTONIC®, and what are GYROTONIC® classes? The GYROTONIC® Expansion System was created by a man named Julio Horvath. While Pilates works predominantly on two-dimensional planes of movement, GYROTONIC® works in every possible plane, including circular exercises and fluid movements. These workouts will increase your range of motion and your flexibility by mobilizing your joints and your spine.
CARDIOLATES® is an exercise system that was developed right here at Pilates on Fifth. We are so excited about this challenging, effective, and fun exercise system. A CARDIOLATES® class will include Pilates style warm ups and Pilates mat exercises to lengthen, strengthen, and rehabilitate your body. After these initial exercises for alignment and strength, each member of the class climbs aboard his or her mini trampoline for 25-30 minutes of rebounding.
If you've never rebounded before, you're in for a treat. Rebounding is challenging, effective, and incredibly fun. With its combination of Pilates exercises, stretching, arm exercises, and rebounding, CARDIOLATES® burns fat, works the heart and lungs, improves alignment and strength, improves bone density, and gets your lymph, oxygen, and blood circulating--all while protecting your joints. CARDIOLATES® can also be added to your private equipment sessions in the form of CARDIOLATES® circuit training.
