Many newcomers to Pilates may only be familiar with Pilates mat classes. They may have never seen Pilates equipment like the Reformer, the Cadillac, the Chair, and the Ladder Barrel. At Pilates on Fifth, we think the ideal workout includes both Pilates equipment sessions and Pilates mat classes.
To get started with one of our instructors on the Pilates equipment, call ahead to schedule an appointment. When you meet your instructor, the two of you will want to discuss your personal goals. What do you want Pilates to do for you? Do you want to use Pilates to improve your golf or tennis swings? Are you a grandparent who wants to be able to lift her grandkids without lower back pain, or are you a dancer who wants to minimize her dance-related injuries?
Pilates can help you achieve these goals. During your private sessions, your instructor will guide you through exercises on the Pilates equipment that are designed just for you. These workouts are invaluable and very rewarding. Once you've had several Pilates privates, you may wish to begin taking duets or even trios. This option helps our clients save money, since duets and trios are less expensive than privates.
During the months that you master exercises on the Cadillac, the Chair, and other pieces of Pilates equipment, you can also take our Mat Pilates Plus classes. These group classes also target the deep muscles of the powerhouse. Our mat classes are affordable and fun. You may also want to take our CARDIOLATES® classes, which combine fat-burning, heart-pumping cardio with the benefits of Pilates.
