Your NYC Pilates certification should stand for something. In the past, NYC Pilates certifications varied greatly in quality, because there was no regulating board overseeing the process. Just about anyone with a little knowledge of Pilates could train and "certify" students to become Pilates instructors, because there was no regulating board to determine whether the certificate was worth the paper it was printed on. Fortunately, all of that is in the process of changing.
Soon, the National Organization of Competency Assurance, or NOCA, will serve as a third party for regulating Pilates certifications. If a program of Pilates teacher certification isn't up to snuff, NOCA won't approve it. Pilates Academy International, the Pilates certification program headquartered at Pilates on Fifth, is currently in the process of applying for accreditation by NOCA.
Of course, certification from Pilates Academy International stands for much more than NOCA's approval. When you train at Pilates Academy International, you'll be given the highest possible quality of Pilates teacher training. We teach our certification students to understand Pilates from the inside out. We won't simply hand you a series of exercises you can use to keep your clients active for the length of a class. We'll give you a deep base of knowledge, covering anatomy, biomechanics, and Pilates from a medical point of view.
If a client asked you today for a series of Pilates exercises to improve her golf swing, would you know what to show her? If a client wanted to work with you but had a serious injury, would you know how to work her out while protecting her? If one of your favorite clients became pregnant, would you be able to continue training her through her pregnancy? When you study at Pilates Academy International, you'll be given all the knowledge you need to handle requests and concerns like these.
