NYC Pilates Certification Schools

Why should you become certified in Pilates? If you have been a student of Pilates for some time and already feel as if you know enough of the exercises to teach your own class, why should you bother with certification? The reasons are many. First, having certification which is approved by the National Organization for Competency Assurance, or NOCA, will greatly improve your chances of being hired by a club or gym which belongs to the International Health, Racquet, and Sports Club Association, or IHRSA.

The IHRSA strongly advises member gyms to hire only those Pilates instructors certified by a program that has third party accreditation (like an accreditation from NOCA). Pilates Academy International is currently in the process of applying for accreditation by NOCA. This will make certification by Pilates Academy International an excellent alternative to accreditation by PMA.

Clearly, certification will increase your chances of being hired by an IHRSA member gym. But certification will also make you a better teacher. This will benefit you whether you plan to teach in a gym, a Pilates studio, or to become a personal trainer who gives one-on-one instruction.

As a teacher, you're supposed to have the answers. When one of your personal training clients or one of the students in your class asks you a specific question, you're supposed to know the answer--really and truly know it, as opposed to being able to make up a plausible answer on the spot! When dealing with people's health, "faking" an answer just isn't good enough. When you study at Pilates Academy International, you'll come away with so much more than just a certificate. You'll graduate with a deep, broad, medically-based understanding of Pilates, and have the skills and confidence to acquire and retain and strong client base.
