New York City Pilates Instructor Certification

Are you interested in becoming a New York City Pilates instructor? If so, you've chosen a great career. Teaching Pilates is financially lucrative and personally rewarding. It's also highly in demand. Pilates teachers who are certified to teach mat and equipment classes enjoy a high demand for their skills. The more you know about Pilates, the greater that demand will be.

Once you've decided to become a Pilates teacher, your first step will be to sign up for instructor certification. You should keep in mind that the certification process is undergoing important changes; if you have a friend who was certified to teach or hired by a gym a year or more ago, her experiences will be different than your own. She'll have good advice from her experience studying Pilates, but her information about certification, accreditation and hiring is apt to be dated and incorrect.

Here is what's happening in the world of Pilates certification: finally, after years of existing without a regulating board, Pilates certification is about to become accredited. The National Organization for Competency Assurance, or NOCA, is a well-respected regulating board. NOCA will soon begin (or, by the time you read this, may have already begun) to accredit certain training programs' Pilates certification courses. The Pilates Academy International is currently in the process of applying for NOCA accreditation. Given our sterling reputation and our exceptional curriculum, we're confident that we'll be given it.

What does NOCA accreditation really mean? It means that a respected and arbitrary entity deems your certificate valid. Having a NOCA approved certificate will serve as a great hiring tool, since the International Health, Racquet, and Sports Club Association, or IHRSA, is strongly urging its member gyms and clubs to hire only those teachers with NOCA approved certification.
